Top 8 in 08: Books
'Tis that time of year again to engage in the ultimate blog activity: making lists of stuff! Being a new parent greatly cuts back on the time available to consume popular culture -- this year I got most of my reading done in bits while riding the train to work. Here are my top eight books this year; click-through to read my goodreads review for each:

Sweet! I didn't know Ari's book was out. Going to Amazon right now ...
=)

Hey Eric,
Yeah, pretty cool, huh? Yay Ari! We went to his book release event at the Smithsonian earlier this year.
I'm so jealous that you get to ride the train to work...I'm still trying to figure out when I will be able to do any reading.
I read the first 3 George RR Martin books in that "Song of Ice and Fire" series a few years ago. I picked them up thinking they were a complete set. Not even close! So I waited forever for the 4th book, and it was delayed several times over. Then when it did come out, it was only half of the story (the other half is STILL being worked on).
I loved the first three books, but I was a little unimpressed with "A Feast for Crows." I'm not sure if I even care anymore when/if "A Dance with Dragons" even comes out.
I'd be interested to hear what you think about that one when you get to it.
Hey hbomb - yeah, I've heard that exact complaint from several other fans. I'm kind of waiting for the next book to appear before digging deeper into the series. Still, book 1 was pretty awesome.
