About This Blog

I'm originally from Fresno, California, but I've been moving steadily eastward as of late. I transplanted to Chicago graduate school in physics and astronomy and then I worked for an environmental NGO in Washington, DC.  Currently I live in Managua, Nicaragua with my wife, Laura Jean, and our two daughters, Quinn and Maya. I also blog about our Nicaraguan adventures at On a Journey.

Apart from hanging out with the family I'm interested in astronomy, backpacking, softball, writing, making music, social justice, travel, taking data, science policy, running, watching movies, science fiction, drinking beer, the environment, etc. The blog aims to be a running commentary on all of the above.
